The company delivered a variety of training programmes this year.It is an approved centre, the only one in Northern Ireland, to provide the training and assessing of NVQ Fashion & Textiles, working in partnership with 21 Training and Skills & Education Group. This training is ongoing.The company continued its programme of free and low-cost community classes and workshops which included :- a variety of adult beginner, intermediate and advanced classes and summer camps, classes and seasonal workshops for childrenThe company continued its Designer Start-up Programme, with 6 participantsIt provided studio space for 4 local emerging designers with access to specialist equipment and advice.The company curated an exhibition (Shirts, Singers and Sewing) throughout the year and on Culture Night.The company continued to be a major part of a monthly Repair Cafe which helped over 90 people from across the city and region with garment repair and recovery.The company continued to operate its pop-up shop in the local shopping centre, sponsored by Inner City Trust with support from Foyleside Centre and Derry City & Strabane District Council, to promote and support 11 emerging designer brands.
The company’s stakeholders include :-1 members of the local community and schools who participate in its leisure classes, exhibitions and workshops2 aspiring and emerging designers who participate in its designer start-up programme, digital training, pop-up shop and utilise incubator space3 local fashion designers who utilise incubator space4 its funders Londonderry Inner City Trust, Derry City & Strabane District Council, Community Foundation NI5 its training partners 21 Training, Skills & Education Group We ask participants for their feedback through regular in-person and on-line forums.The Inner City Trust nominates the Directors of the company from its membership.
