2. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
Basis of preparing the financial statements |
The Covid-19 global pandemic has had an impact on the performance of the company. The financial impact has been partly mitigated by utilisation of the Government furlough scheme and bounce back loans. Turnover has improved since the year end and the directors believe that the accounts should be prepared on a going concern basis. The company has the continued support of the directors and shareholders to ensure it is able to meet its liabilities as they fall due. |
Turnover |
Turnover represents sales of goods and services in the ordinary course of the business, net of VAT. |
Tangible fixed assets |
Tangible assets are stated at cost less accumulated depreciation. Cost includes the original purchase price and costs directly attributable to bringing the asset to its working condition for its intended use. |
Depreciation is provided at the following annual rates in order to write off each asset over its estimated useful life. |
Plant and machinery etc - 20% on cost |
On disposal, the difference between net proceeds and the carrying amount of item sold is recognised in the profit and loss account and is included in administrative expenses. |
The assets' residual values, useful lives and depreciation methods are reviewed, and adjusted prospectively if appropriate, or if there is an indication of a significant change since the last reporting date. |
Government grants |
Government grants relate to the grants receivable under the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme and the interest payments made in relation to the Coronavirus Bounce Back Loan Scheme. |
Grants relating to revenue are recognised in income on a systematic basis over the period in which the entity recognises the related costs for which the grant is intended to compensate. |
Taxation |
Current tax is the amount of corporation tax payable in respect of taxable profit for the year or prior years. Tax is calculated on the basis of tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantively enacted by the year end. |
Deferred tax is recognised in respect of all timing differences that have originated but not reversed at the balance sheet date where transactions or events that result in an obligation to pay more tax in the future or a right to pay less tax in the future have occurred at the balance sheet date. Timing differences are differences between the company's taxable profits and its results as stated in the financial statements. |
Deferred tax is measured at the average tax rates that are expected to apply in the periods in which timing differences are expected to reverse, based on tax rates and laws that have been enacted or substantially enacted by the balance sheet date. Deferred tax is measured on a non-discounted basis. |

Financial instruments |
Financial instruments are classified by directors as basic or non-basic following the conditions on FRS 102 Section 11. Basic financial instruments are initially measured at transaction price and subsequently recognised at amortised cost using the effective interest method.
