Other accounting policies
These financial statements have been prepared under the historic cost convention and
Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities effective June 2002 and recommendations
in Statement of Recommended Practice: Accounting by Charities issued October 2000.
Grants are recognised in the statement of financial activities in the year to which they relate.
Voluntary income, including donations, and fees, is included in the statement of financial
activities in the year when received.
Restricted funds are used for specified purposes laid down by the donor, and expenditure
which meets this criteria is identified to the fund.
Unrestricted funds represent other income received for the objects without specified purpose
and are available as general fund.
Depreciation is provided on all tangible fixed assets at rates calculated to write off the cost of
each asset over its estimated useful life, which is set at four years on a straight line basis for
office equipment, and over the length of the lease from initial occupation for leasehold property
Staff costs and overhead expenses are allocated to activities on the basis of staff time spent
on those activities.
Fundraising and publicity costs comprise the costs actually incurred in producing material for
promotional purposes, including raising funds
Management and administration costs of the organisation relate to the costs of running the
charitable activities such as costs of meetings, audit and statutory compliance and includes
any costs which cannot be specifically identified to another expenditure classification.
