The year dating Nov 2021 to Nov 2022 was a successful year for Trans Safety Network in its purpose of benefitting the community and in particular members of the community of trans, nonbinary and gender diverse people in the United Kingdom. Our research has gained increased traction, and provides a vital source of information to the community. Our reporting during the relevant period was cited in the mainstream press, by the popular legal research service Westlaw, and by various articles on Wikipedia. A particularly influential piece of research concerned the social media website Twitter, and the ease with which its hashtag feature can be manipulated, and how this was being weaponised against the trans community. TSN were able to demonstrate this by getting the hashtag #ThisIsAnExploit trending at number 3 in the UK, with only a small number of accounts. Also especially impactful was our reporting revealing that Charing Cross GIC had been giving individuals just 72 hours to respond, else they would be removed from the GIC’s years long waiting list. Following this, and subsequent outrage in response, the GIC were forced to walk back the policy. In the relevant period, TSN published 55 articles concerning anti-trans harms, as well as conducting substantial background research and liaising with other NGOs working to benefit the community. This work continues to be relied upon.
Trans Safety Network’s stakeholders are members of the community, particularly the trans, nonbinary and gender-diverse community. TSN has a contact form through which stakeholders can contact us. In advance of this filing, TSN made a callout for stakeholders to provide feedback if they wished to. All contact we have received from stakeholders regarding our work has been incredibly positive, and mostly focused on requests that we expand our work even further. This is of course something we aim to do, and are working towards as our resources allow.
No remuneration was received
