General Account for Enriching Environmental Encounters CIC.A Covid-19 Recovery programme working in collaboration with South Downs National Park Authority Education.CPD Training Video for teachers was a cautious initiative coming out of lockdown on Thursday 22nd October 2020 and was attended on a live zoom meeting with two other teachers (initially 6 registered interest), however, the videos were available to watch on catch up and the latest figures I had were that it was subsequently watched by 45 people since uploading it. Feedback received from a colleague in the SDNPA Learning was that it was informative. A summary of the video content: stated that science could be taught outdoors in a more stimulating way to children at Primary school from Reception to Year 6, linked to the national curriculum for habitats, species and conservation. Practical sessions – modelled in the field for two schools: Patcham Juniors Brighton 3 hourly sessions on ‘Celebrating the biodiversity of the local patch’. 3 classes of Year 3 children for an hour each on the 18th June & 1st July.Seaford Primary School, Seaford. 2 whole school day workshops on ‘Enjoying the outdoors through Mythology, living and non-living things. 2 classes of Year 2 children finishing with popping corn/song around a fire, 2nd & 9th July. Patcham Juniors - 3 Sessions 97 attendanceSeaford Primary School - 2 Sessions 65 attendanceFeedback:Patcham Juniors from Emily Defries – Lead Climate Change Teacher:-(By email) Just to say- thank you so much for a wonderful afternoon! The children absolutely loved being outdoors and thoroughly enjoyed the activities.I know the other two classes are going to love the activities next week.Seaford Primary School from Nicola Robards Year 2 Teacher and Assistant Teacher Outdoor Learning(By email) Excellent, thanks for today the children loved it! The second teacher Jim Entwistle wrote - Thanks so much for your visit the other week. It was a great day. The children wrote some lovely thank you letters. (I forwarded a postal address and currently await these).Nicola used the experiences of the day for her lessons the following week to do a recount one copy attached and a creative writing exercise where they were estate agents trying to sell their beautiful house building creations for little people surviving a night in the woods, they did in groups.
The stakeholders are the teachers of the children and they have both indirectly through the Education Officer at South Downs National Park and directly to me, requested that in future any education should show clearly what can be done with the minimum of funding and what would require significant funding to run the outdoor activities.
Remuneration is taken of £269
No transfer of assets other than for full consideration
