The company runs The Elemental Adventures Project CIC, which runs mostly from Coed Blaenigau Woods, West Wales, and occasionally at other sites, such as schools, community events and holiday venues.Elemental Adventures is a not-for-profit social enterprise. It is focused on reconnecting people with nature, exploring outdoor play and learning, forest school, bushcraft, mindfulness, music and natural arts & crafts. It was incorporated in July 2018. During the financial year 2018-2019, the company’s activities have benefited the community in the following ways:Promoting nature based learning and experiences through workshops, events and community building activities, such as parent & toddler and home education groups. These activities have provided opportunities for a healthier lifestyle, encouraging access and connection to the natural world. Through education and involvement, people have practiced activities that build skills and confidence and are sustainable and healthy for both people and the environment.Promoting ecological awareness and restoration through sustainable woodland management. This has provided opportunities to gain and improve skills in traditional and new ways of working with natural resources. Teaching traditional, heritage, land based skills and crafts, such as hedge laying, blacksmithing and green woodwork.Building links with and within the local community, including existing social enterprises, charities, schools and community groups. We have strived to create an accessible woodland space for all to enjoy and use and where people can connect with each other and with the natural world.
The company’s stakeholders are the local residents and also visitors to the area, as well as the local schools, charities and social enterprises that have engaged with the project. We used a questionnaire, online and in printed form at our events, to get feedback on what we offer and also ideas about what people would like us to offer. The open day gave us a great opportunity to gather face to face feedback and we have constantly engaged with people visiting the project to find out their needs. Our research has enabled us to develop the various events and sessions that we provide and allowed us to grow through this first year of our trading.
Included in the accounts within Administrative expenses were remuneration payments made to the Directors of £10,305. There were no other transactions or arrangements in connection with the remuneration of directors, or compensation for director’s loss of office, which require to be disclosed.
