Sporting Your Futures CIC's aim is to increase and sustain participation in sport and leisure within the local community of deprived areas. We target areas of low income families who face barriers to participate in sport and leisure due to financial pressures. Sporting Your Futures CIC has established working in different parts of Birmingham, Sandwell & Dudley. Delivering weekly sessions across the weekend and week nights to give young people aged 5-25 years the opportunity to get active. Our sessions during the last twelve months include Football specific coaching and Multi sport activities by qualified and DBS checked coaches. Working in partnership with sports centres to give young people the opportunity to use facilities that they don't usually have access to. Prior to our projects starting we engaged with our current Football club members for over ten years to determine what changes they wanted and what services they would like us to offer. During the weekend alone we offer sessions in Nechells on Saturday mornings for ages 5-15 years and Saturday afternoons we offer sessions for 5-21 years in Yardley. Also, midday we are working in partnership with other community organisations to offer free football for 16-25 years for a social inclusion session in Sparkbrook/Bordsleygreen. Sunday mornings we have our targeted BAME young people sports group in Oldhill/Netherton and Halesowen that participate in Multi sport's sessions which includes boys and Girls. Also, on a Friday evening we have our Youth Led intervention Football sessions which is targeting anti-social behaviour and providing a safe place for young people.
Stakeholders are local residents and local community groups that we support. The directors include local professionals that have a huge passion for equal opportunities and giving back to the community.Prior to our projects starting we engaged with our current Football club members for over ten years to determine what changes they wanted and what services they would like us to offer. Some of the survey questions that we conducted with the local parents and participants included how far they would be willing to travel to a park or facility, how many times a week they want to play, days and times and how much they could afford to pay financially. Our research shows that 82% of our parents want to keep their children active and those above the age of eighteen want to participate at least twice a week on a Saturday or Sunday. Consultation with stakeholders include schools, sport Birmingham, local police, Street Games, Sported and sport England. We keep in regular contact with parents, community groups and faith centres to continuously improve our services for the community.
