In the financial year beginning on 1 December 2020 and ending on 30 November 2021, UK Lithuanian Youth Association C.I.C (UKLYA) continued organising virtual and physical educational and professional or social networking activities for young individuals of Lithuanian descent in the United Kingdom (UK), promoting Lithuanian culture and sharing information on current affairs in Lithuania with Lithuanian youth communities in the UK and elsewhere.In this year, UKLYA organised:- Virtual meetings "Kavos klubas" (Eng. "Coffee Club") and discussions on various aspects of Lithuanian culture for individuals of Lithuanian descent living in the UK and other countries, including the US and Canada, attracting around 20 individuals to each event.- A virtual contest of photographs "Lithuania Away from Lithuania" to commemorate the 16th of February (The Day of Independence) and 11th March (The Day of Recovery of Independence). In addition to commemoration of these important dates, another aim of this contest was to engage the Lithuanian youth in the UK during the COVID-19 pandemic and share the unexpected angles of how Lithuanian Youth in the UK views Lithuania. This event attracted at least 12 participants and over 140 individuals who participated in the online voting of selecting the winners of the contest.- The formation of the UK Lithuanian Youth delegation for the 16th World Lithuanian Youth Congress. To improve the representation of the Lithuanian Youth in the United Kingdom in the Congress the Lithuanian Youth not in the board of the UKLYA and living out of London was also invited to become the delegates. Thus, in the 16th World Lithuanian Youth Congress, the United Kingdom was represented by 11 individuals from England and Scotland. There were 2 virtual meetings for the delegates prior to the Congress for the delegates to network and discuss the issues important to the Lithuanian Youth in the UK. 2 delegates became the board members of the Lithuanian World Youth Association.- Renewal of the UKLYA website. The website was updated to include the information on funding and scholarship opportunities for Lithuanian students who want to do their undergraduate or postgraduate studies in the UK; UKLYA podcast "Pokalbiai is salos" (Eng. "Conversations from an Island"); a map of unique but not necessarily the most popular places in the UK recommended to visit by Lithuanian Youth in the UK ("Neregeta Karalyste" (Eng. "The Kingdom Unseen")).- Parallel runs of annual global Lithuanian running challenge "5 uz Lietuva" (Eng. "5 for Lithuania")) in London and Edinburgh. These runs were accompanied by parallel simultaneous picnics in London and Edinburgh, attracting around 20 individuals.- "Siaures saliu sriuba" (Eng. "The Soup of Northern Countries") - an annual educational and networking event for Lithuanian Youth in countries of Northern Europe and the UK, organised in different countries every year. In this hybrid event, there were workshops, lectures and seminars on internal and external communications of NGOs and their post-pandemic recovery; open-source tools and methods used to recognise propaganda material or disinformation on social media; funding opportunities for youth organisations. There were 14 individuals from the UK, Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Lithuania and Belgium that attended the event.- "Siaures asambleja" (Eng. "The Assembly of the North") - a networking event aimed at Lithuanian Youth studying in North England and Scotland, with an intention to encourage networking among Lithuanian students. In this event, young Lithuanian individuals from 3 UK universities - University of Edinburgh, University of Newcastle and Lancaster University spent two days in Edinburgh performing group tasks exploring the city and climbing The Pentland Hills. This event attracted 50 young Lithuanian individuals from England and Scotland.- The Third Meeting of Lithuanian Youth Organizations and Student Associations in the UK. This event included a seminar on communications, workshops aimed to promote collaboration and joint activities among Lithuanian youth organizations in the UK, and discussion on the activities and future of Lithuanian youth organisations in the UK, gathering 20 participants.- A series of live trivia quiz games "Auksinis protas" (Eng. "Golden Mind" in English) that attracted up to 20 participants in each game.- A podcast presenting community leaders and otherwise interesting individuals of Lithuanian descent in the UK and around the world.
As per Constitution of UKLYA, 16-35 year old individuals of Lithuanian descent living in the UK are considered stakeholders of UKLYA. From 1 December 2020 to 30 November 2021, UKLYA actively tried consulting young individuals of Lithuanian descent in the UK about their needs and how best to translate that to activities that would benefit community in the UK. This was implemented through online polls, direct discussions with representatives of Lithuanian student communities or independent individuals attending UKLYA events, also, direct message exchanges via UKLYA social media channels.
