Wales Africa Film Club- We piloted a Wales-Africa Film Club with projected 10 x events in South and North Wales (including Wrexham) that showcase films from across the continent with diverse narratives that are hardly seen, portrayed or watched in mainstream cinemas. - At each event we documented the screenings and activities using photography, vox pops, Q&A’s, discussions, workshops and web content. - We worked with different partners including Ffilm Cymru and Race Council Cymru as well as offer communication training (to committee member and volunteers) to deliver film club events. - To create an informal community of people interested in watching, exploring and getting involved in African film. - We have developed ToR with our 'club board' to cover terms and conditions of being on the board of the film club and any expectations from both sides."- The screening of 'I Am Not A Witch' followed by Q&A with Rungano Nyoni was the highlight of the project. - This was closely followed by screenings in Wrexham and Newport were we have never screened or host activities before. The response and feedback in both places has great with people requesting more and similar activities.- We had Q&A and discussions in all screenings. Some of the invited attendees incudes Norbert Mputu, Prof Racahel Langford, Dr Sarah Younan and Ali Goolyad. With 5 speakers in total, we made sure that attendees were able to get a comprehesnive overview of the film.- We offered communication and events management training to our volunteer, Cynthia Sitei, Sarah Younan and Maelona Betts. Cynthia and Maelona were incharge of our social media camapaigns covering twiiter, facebook and instagram whilst Sarah organised some of the screenings and leading on the Q&A.- We hosted the screening of 'I Am Not A Witch' at Ty Pawb with over 40 attendees coming to the screening. The screening was followed by Q&A with Norbert Mputu, a Congolese academic with extensive research in African witchcraft. We also hosted the screening of Hyenes at Pontio in Bangor where the attendance was lower but with excellent feedback.
