We have formed partnerships with other organisations having similar objectives, in particular the North Preston & the
Brents Community Association, the Faversham Society and Faversham Sea Cadets. In January 2019 the Creek Trust
became a founder member of Faversham & Oare Heritage Harbour Group (FOHHG), a group set up to designate and
develop Faversham and Oare as a Heritage Harbour using international criteria defined by National Historic Ships and
the Maritime Heritage Trust. The Creek Trust maintains communications with Whitstable Maritime, a not-for-profit
company that was formed in the spring of 2014 to acquire and renovate historic vessels including smacks and yawls,
the Kentish Sail Association, whose principal activity is to organise the Swale Match for barges and other traditional
boats, the Thames Sailing Barge Match Committee, which organises the Thames Match, and with the Thames Sailing
Barge Trust, founded in 1948 and now operating a popular training programme for barge mates and skippers. The
Creek Trust is a corporate member of the Medway and Swale Boating Association, a member of the Society for Sailing
Barge Research, and a founder member of the Thames Heritage Alliance. Our ambition is to enable owners to bring
their craft to the Creek basin in the summer for recreational purposes, and year round as a haven and repair facility, and
in turn to provide our trainees with a potential market for their skills.
