We continue to be Bristol's most comprehensive Community Bike Project, repairing and relocating unwanted bicycles. We aim to help people from all walks of life to get out on two wheels, and for it to be an inclusive and empowering experience. - Continued to re-home bikes for free with people who really need them, giving out over 160 in 2019-2020, and have now empowered over 2,360 people to become independently mobile.- Carried out hundreds of free repairs for people who have already had bikes through our programmes, supporting between 7 - 10 people in this way each week.- Continued to support young people with free bikes and repairs.- Continued to service the fleet of all ability bikes at the Bristol Family Cycling Centre, supporting cycling to be more accessible. - Reused and recycled hundreds of bikes and parts that would otherwise have gone to landfill.- Continued to offer volunteering opportunities at BBP, skilling people up in bicycle mechanics and providing a supportive environment for people who are struggling with isolation.- Provided a safe, non-judgemental workshop space that is co-operatively run and inclusive.- Supported and advised groups and individuals seeking to start new bike projects.
The company’s stakeholders are paying and non-paying project-users, volunteers, paid staff and directors. All of these individuals are encouraged to participate in, and contribute to how the project is run – both strategically and operationally. We hold four general meetings and one AGM each year, which were all well-attended. These allow stakeholders to air their views and make decisions on many matters. Additionally, operational meetings and regular meetings of various working groups are held to tackle day to day issues. This year, we also undertook a review of our membership model which involved in-depth consultation with the membership over 3 months. See here for more information: https://thebristolbikeproject.org/2019/08/21/6675/ We are always looking for feedback, and make changes and improvements accordingly. We have continued to improve our governance, and elected one new director in March 2020.
