1. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
|
Accounting convention |
The financial statements are prepared under the historical cost convention modified to include the |
revaluation of freehold land and buildings and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for |
Smaller Entities (effective January 2015). |

Turnover |
Turnover represents amounts receivable for rent exclusive of VAT. |

Investment property |
In accordance with SSAP 19 investment properties are revalued annually and the aggregate surplus or |
deficit is transferred to a revaluation reserve. No depreciation or amortisation is provided in respect of |
freehold investment properties. The directors consider that this accounting policy results in the financial |
statements giving a true and fair view. Depreciation or amortisation is only one of the many factors |
reflected in the annual valuation and the amount which might otherwise have been shown cannot be |
separately identified or quantified. |

Stocks & work in progress |
Stocks & work in progress are valued at the lower of cost and net realisable value and comprise of |
property development costs. |
|
Deferred tax |
Deferred taxation is provided on the liability method to take account of timing differences between the |
treatment of certain items for accounts purposes and their treatment for tax purposes. Tax deferred or |
accelerated is accounted for in respect of all material timing differences. |
|
No provision has been made for deferred tax on gains recognised on revaluing property to its market |
value as the company does not intend to sell the revalued assets. |
