NOTES TO THE ABBREVIATED ACCOUNTS |
FOR THE YEAR ENDED 30 SEPTEMBER 2015 |
|
1. | ACCOUNTING POLICIES |
|
Accounting convention |
The financial statements have been prepared under the historical cost convention and in accordance |
with the Financial Reporting Standard for Smaller Entities (effective April 2008). |
|
Turnover |
Turnover represents net invoiced sales of goods, excluding value added tax, except in respect of |
service contracts where turnover is recognised when the company obtains the right to consideration. |
|
Tangible fixed assets |
|
|
Plant and machinery etc | - |
|
|
Investment property |
Investment property is accounted for in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standard for |
Smaller Entities (effective April 2008) and is stated at market value. No depreciation is provided in |
respect of this property. Although the Companies Act 2006 would normally require the systematic |
annual depreciation of fixed assets, it is believed that this policy of not providing depreciation is |
necessary in order for the accounts to give a true and fair view, since the current value of |
investment properties, and changes in that current value, are of prime importance rather than a |
calculation of systematic annual depreciation. Depreciation is only one of many factors reflected in the |
annual valuation, and the amount which might otherwise have been shown cannot be separately |
identified or quantified. |
|
Deferred tax |
Deferred taxation is provided in full on timing differences which represent a liability at the balance |
sheet date, at rates expected to apply when they crystallise based on current tax rates and law. |
Deferred tax assets are recognised to the extent that they are regarded as recoverable. Deferred tax |
assets and liabilities are not discounted. |
