Both our ships, COMRADE and AMY HOWSON, are well maintained and conform to the standards required to perform their sailing duties. They are part of the National Historic Ships Register. They were unable to sail because of the National Lockdown caused by the Covid epidemic, and so the finances of the Society fell dramatically. A grant from the National Heritage Lottery Fund of £20,880, had to be returned for the most part because of the restrictions imposed, and we were unable to carry out the work within the time limit stated in the terms of the grant. The standing of the Society, in the area of its field, remains as high as ever. The ability of our members to give land based talks was also severely restricted. |
